Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend, Mary Ellen Haymore Childs, passed away October 24, at the age of 69, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 15, 1942 in Provo, Utah to Franklin and Lela Haymore, attended Provo High School and BYU.

 

She married Howard LeRoy Childs on May 31, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had four angels: LaJean, Brian, Alisa, and Lee, after which they adopted five more. Mary dearly loved her parents and siblings: Ronald, Ralph, Helen, Randy, Robert and Barbara. Lee's family, especially his mother Martha Childs, also held a special place in Mary's heart. 

 

Mary worked for many years as an aide and librarian where she blessed children with her sweet spirit and love for life. She lived as if each day was a gift, always waking up with a smile on her face and a song in her heart. Mary was best known for her wonderful talents as an artist and cook. 

 

We are so blessed to have been graced with her love all these years.

 

She is survived by her mother, Lela Haymore; husband, Howard L. Childs; children, Lisa (Alan) Whitney, Todd (Laurie) Childs, Jermaine Childs, Alexandra (Shane) Hughes, Angela Childs, nine grandchildren and six siblings. 

 

She is preceded in death by four children, her father, and brother.
