From Emma Lou Jones in California.  She sent this email today,

Sorry to hear about John, he was such a great guy.  His dad was my Bishop and John was one of my ward and school friends. Also in our ward was Marilyn Miller, Ira Price, the MacArthur family, the Zabriski twins, the Christensen sisters, Jenny Lynn Weight, and others I seem to have forgotten, but never John Boswell!

Obituary for John Wallace Boswell

John W. Boswell Jr. passed away on December 12, 2017 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease.

Born in Provo, Utah he was the son of J. Wallace Boswell and Edda Margaret Jones Boswell. He married his sweetheart, Nancy Nielsen on September 1, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

John attended Provo High School, the College of Eastern Utah and Brigham Young University. After graduation from BYU, John and Nancy moved to California where John worked for Phillips Petroleum Company and Ortho Pharmaceutical. After 11 years in California, John accepted a job in Price, Utah at the College of Eastern Utah. Following three years at CEU, John accepted a position to work at the University of Utah. During his career at the “U” he worked as the Director of High School and Prospective Student Services, the Director of Campus Recreation, the Registrar and the Director of Admissions.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many different church positions including Scout Master, High Councilor, High Priest Group Leader, Bishop of the Union 27th Ward, and Stake Executive Secretary in the Sandy Utah Cottonwood Creek Stake. He treated every calling as if it were the most important. He always served with a smile.

An important part of John’s career and life was his role as a mentor. His caring interest in others was invaluable to many he worked with over the years.

John also enjoyed many pastimes and interests with family and good friends including golf, fishing, game nights, and organizing a large baseball card collection.

John and his sweetheart Nancy served a full-time mission from 2007-2008 at the Laie, Hawaii Temple Visitor’s Center. They also served together for a summer at the Hill Cumorah Pageant and as Church Service Missionaries at the Bishop’s Storehouse in Sandy, Utah.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Nielsen Boswell; sister, Margo Boswell Trotter (Paul); three sons and one daughter: John Wallace III (Susan), Angela (David) Osborne, Gregory Stanley (Michelle) and Michael Chad (Michelle). He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, J. Wallace Boswell and Edda Margaret Jones Boswell and his sister, Dana Boswell Ellertson (Richard Lee).

We express our deep appreciation to Dr. John Steffens and the conscientious caregivers at Silverado Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the South Jordan Utah Parkway stake center located at 9894 S. 2700 W. South Jordan, UT.
