In Memory

Stephen Hafen

Steven Hafen was killed in an accident on Kennecott Copper property in late March or early April, 1970, just before Easter.  He was working for Kennecott inspecting the condition of old mines on the property they owned south of the big open pit.  As I remember, he was recently married.  The Provo Herald Easter weekend had the obituary.  Jerry Jacobson 5/5/2017

If I remember correctly, Steve was working for Kennecott inspecting old mine shafts dating to pioneer times on company property after graduating from college about Easter time 1970 when he had an accident that killed him. Assumably, he fell into a mineshaft with fatal result. I remember the article about it in the Herald when I was home at Easter. He had recently been married. Very tragic.

I seem to remember that he and his wife adopted one or more Native American children.
