In Memory

Virginia Mitchell (Hansen)

 18 Sep 2010

Just received info that one of our classmates, Virginia Mitchell Hansen, has died from causes related to diabetes. Virginia married Jack Hansen. Jack was a couple of years older than us and worked for Lloyd's Typewriters for many years.  Virginia has a younger brother, Duff, that played ball with us. Her nephew, Scott Mitchell, played football for the UofU and then went on to play in the NFL for a few years.  Virginia's dad (Brig) was in the electrical supply business in Provo for many years and was probably most noted for his knowledge of catching big fish at Strawberry.

I am very sad to learn of Virginia's passing.  She was a good friend of mine in high school
and some of her children were friends of my children at Orem High.  I also knew her younger
brother John and his wife Carol who lived in our ward for a time.  She was a wonderful person
and will be greatly missed by many.

Wanted to post this memory of Virginias dear husband Jack Hansen who passed away recently. Yep Jack was the king of B Boop! He could do almost every contortion invented by Elvis! Jack was a few years older than us but for some reason when we were in grade school, he spent most of the summer days playing army ot cowboys and indians with Raymond and I and Bill Jolley, Grant Bailey, Terry Hansen his younger brother who was our age. Jack, being older was always the general and gave all the commands we were in some mighty rubber gun blattles expecially when we found out about red rubber tires that had twice the power as black rubber bands cut from tires. As we got a little older and Jacks brother bought a pink cadillac convertible, Jack loved to take the whole gang down to draq center street with the top down. He would always sing, a white sports coat and a pink cadillac and laugh the whole time!! So sad we lost touch so many years ago. Now his dear wife Merta Ray lived right across the street from Jack and we only lived a few houses away. So sad we missed visiting with them for all these years, we were so close as youngsters growing up together. Best wishes to dear Merta Ray who has had some hard times in this life. Hope to be able to attend the viewing this week. Love and blessing to your dear family!!! So many wonderful childhood memories sharing time together. Richard Hintze, one of the twins!! I married Maralyn Kane who lived next door to Merta Ray and across the street from the Hansens. We attended the same ward until we all got married.

loving regards, Richard  Hintze-one of the twins
