In Memory

Max Merlin Phillips

Ray Luce says his address was in 1995 booklet and also in 25th list.  Joyce Cox Page informed me on 6/17/09 that Merlin Phillips passed away around ten years ago. His son is on the Payson City council, according to Ricky Lamb.

Merlin moved to Payson a few years after graduation. He was a very successful businessman. He purchased a number of properties and built a trailer park, storage units, a U-Haul dealership and owned the Wee Blue Inn bar downtown. He was a good contractor and built two beautiful homes, the latest adjacent to the cemetary. Maybe he knew his time was short and wanted to stay close to the house. His heart could not keep up with him and he died in January 1998.

Merlin was a great friend and along with Steve McAffee and Rulon and Joyce Page we managed to remain close through the years. He has many friends and associates in Payson.

His son Scott Phillips was just re-elected to the city council.
