In Memory

Dan Whiting

11/15/2011

It is with a very sad heart I report our classmate Dan Whiting, age 70, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2001 due to heart failure. Dan and his wife, Susan (McCormick), resided in Fairbanks, Alaska. They are the parents of seven children.
While at Provo High School Dan participated on both the Football and Wrestling teams. After high school, Dan became more involved in the family construction business; a profession in which Dan remained his entire professional career. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His greatest love was both the family from which he came and the family he and Susie had so proudly raised.

Comments: I married Susie in 1964 and we had our seven children. We have been married almost forty-seven years. Most of the time, I have worked in Utah County contracting. We lived in Provo for twenty-years then moved to Payson for another twenty.

We came to Alaska in 2005 and decided that we would like to make it our home someday. We have three of our children living here so we moved here in 2009. It provides great hunting including moose, caribou and bear. We fish for king salmon about a block from our house and make regular trips to Homer and Valdez, halibut and silver salmon fishing. I took up chain saw sculpturing when I was here in 2005 and decided to turn off the construction equipment and start up the chain saw.

My wife is a published author. She has written three books "A Message for Michael", "The Christmas Search" and a complilation of Christmas poems she wrote for our children entitled "To Christmas with Love".
