In Memory

Paul Michael Thomas

Paul Michael Thomas, my beloved eternal sweetheart, age 66 was released from his pains and disabilities and returned to his Heavenly Parents on December 30, 2008. He was born the eldest son of Paul Frank and Lena Peterson Thomas on May 1, 1942. His arrival was a bit premature; say a couple of months. His departure was a little hasty also, for those of us who survive him.

Paul was a kind, gentle man, husband, father, grandfather (papa), son, brother and dear friend. He always thought of others first and how he could be of help.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served our country during the Vietnam era as an Army MP in Korea. He enjoyed numerous callings in the Church, in the scouting program (he is an Eagle Scout), in the Sunday School, on the High Counsel, and helping those preparing for temple attendance. In all of his endeavors, he worked hard and gave his all.

He was employed by Swire Coca-Cola for 34 years before suffering a severe stroke, and having to retire.

On September 26, 1969 he and Sharlene Wolsey were married in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised five terrific children, 3 sons and 2 daughters. They in turn presented us with 16 grandchildren who we adore!

Paul is survived by his wife, Sharlene, his children, Stephen (Shannon); David (Kim); Robert (Heidi), Rachel (Alipate) Palepale; Wendy (Samisoni) Palepale; 16 beautiful grandchildren; his mother Lena Thomas; his sister, Karen (Kent) Hauck; his brother, Randy (Melody); vast numbers of in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Frank Thomas; his grandparents; Sharlene's parents, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

As a family we wish to express our deepest appreciation to the doctors and staff of UVRMC for their kindness and care for Paul and the entire family.
