Karen Ostler (Oveson)

Karen Ostler Oveson passed away August 7, 2023 at her home in Benjamin, Utah, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 28, 1942 in Provo, Utah to Valaeo and Cleo Ostler. She grew up in Price and Provo, Utah, with her sister and brothers. Karen graduated from Provo High School. She attended Utah Trade Tech (now Utah Valley University).

Karen married Ronald Chester Oveson in Las Vegas, Nevada, on June 27, 1960. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Utah Temple on June 2, 1964. Together they have four children: Kim, Todd, Troy, and Vicki.

Karen is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a stake sports director, among her other callings over the years.

In addition to being a busy wife and mother, she ran her own cake decorating shop (Cake Plate), and she worked at both Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and Utah State Rehabilitation. Her hobbies included camping, hunting, fishing, golfing, ATVing, and traveling. She enjoyed going south for the winter with family and friends, as well as going on cruises.

Karen is survived by her husband, Ronald Oveson; her children: Kim Woodward (Douglas Talbot), Todd (Marsali) Oveson, Troy (Tausha) Oveson, and Vicki Harris (Rick Burnham). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Dianna Middlebrook; and her brothers, David Ostler and Robert Ostler. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a grandson, and by sons-in-law.

A visitation where family and friends may gather will be held Friday morning, August 11, 2023, from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. Following the visitation, there will be a graveside service at the Benjamin Cemetery, 8042 South 3200 West (Utah County, Utah) at 11:00 a.m.
